Time: 2:00 pm for 3 Hours

For Cyril and many of the ancient Alexandrian theologians, the golden text to all Christology was the Prologue to John: The Word became flesh.  Their Christology was strongly unified, and centered upon the Word whose flesh saved the world.  But it is not entirely clear to us —nor was it to Antiochene theologians —how this view of the Person of Christ could be the very same One who faced temptation, who encountered the Syro-Phoenician woman, who struggled in Gethsemane, who cried out to a silent sky in abandonment.  This course gives us a chance to examine one early Christology and the texts that trouble it.
