Indigenous Theologies/Theologians
Code: ISP-THX512
Dates: July 14, 2025 - July 18, 2025
Time: 9:00 am for 3 hours
Tutorial: 2:00–5:00 pm (MDiv only)
Indigenous theologies and theologians inspire and challenge the Christian churches and their dominant theologies to engage in dialogue. This course will examine the contribution Indigenous theologians have made to decolonize the subjects of systematic and constructive theologies, pastoral formation for ministry, and concepts and theologies of mission. The course will focus on an Indigenous understanding of the creation in contrast to a Eurocentric view of Creation. Providing an alternative framework for theological study, the life, faith and experience of Indigenous people will allow students to critically engage the ways they define mission, church and ministry.
Course will be taught in person at VST and via Zoom for distance students (degree students must connect synchronously if studying via Zoom).
