VST Appoints The Rev. Dr. Charles Meeks as Director of Anglican Formation

VANCOUVER, BC. July 16, 2026. The Vancouver School of Theology is pleased to announce the appointment of The Rev. Dr. Charles Meeks as Director of Anglican Formation, effective     August 1, 2026.

As Director of Anglican Formation, Dr. Meeks will support the formation of Anglican students preparing for ordained and lay ministry while contributing to the life of the School through teaching, pastoral leadership, and collaboration with dioceses and the wider Anglican Church.

About The Rev. Charles Meeks
The Rev. Dr. Charles Meeks comes to VST from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where he serves as Ecumenical Chaplain, supporting the spiritual life of the university community through pastoral care, worship, and ecumenical ministry. He also serves as Assistant Curate at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Hamilton.

An ordained priest in the Anglican Church of Canada within the Diocese of Niagara, Dr. Meeks brings together pastoral ministry, theological education, and scholarly research. Throughout his career, he has taught at a number of universities and theological institutions, including Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto and Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, NY, helping to form students through the study of Scripture, theology, and the Christian tradition.

Dr. Meeks earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Houghton University, a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Theology from Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto. His doctoral research explored sacramental hermeneutics through the work of Hilary of Poitiers and Robert W. Jenson.

His research and writing focus on historical theology, biblical interpretation, sacramental theology, and the theology of the early Church. He is the author of Sola Scriptura Sacramentaque: Recovering the Significance of the Sacraments with Hilary of Poitiers and Robert W. Jenson and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and theological publications, including the Scottish Journal of Theology and the Journal of Theological Interpretation. He is currently completing a forthcoming book on Hilary of Poitiers, and is exploring new research avenues on the work of John Wesley and Salvian of Marseilles.
