Biography

Ashley Moyse (PhD, Newcastle) is the McDonald Postdoctoral Fellow in Christian Ethics and Public Life, Christ Church, University of Oxford. He is a Research Associate at Vancouver School of Theology (2014 to present) and was the John Templeton Postdoctoral Fellow in Theology and Science at Regent College (2017-2018). Prior to his work in theology and ethics, he trained in applied physiology and was a lecturer at the University of the Fraser Valley (2005-2016), where he taught human anatomy, among other courses, for the Faculty of Health Sciences. He is the author of Reading Karl Barth, Interrupting Moral Technique, Transforming Biomedical Ethics (Palgrave, 2015) and The Art of Living for the Technological Age (Fortress, forthcoming 2020). He has co-edited and contributed to several volumes, including Correlating Sobornost: Conversations Between Karl Barth and the Russian Orthodox Tradition (Fortress, 2016), Kenotic Ecclesiology: Select Writings of Donald M. MacKinnon (Fortress, 2016), and Treating the Body in Medicine and Religions: Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Perspectives (Routledge, 2019). Finally, Ashley is the series advisor and co-editor of the Fortress Press book series Dispatches: Turning Points in Theology and Global Crises. Volumes in this series include John W de Gruchy’s The End is Not Yet: Standing Firm in Apocalyptic Times (2017), Cyril Hovorun’s Political Orthodoxies: The Unorthodoxies of the Church Coerced (2018), John C McDowell’s Theology and the Globalized Present: Feasting in the Future of God (2019), and Marcus Pound’s Theology, Comedy, Politics (2019).
