Recreation & Health

VST is situated in a naturally beautiful area on the University of British Columbia (UBC) campus. Especially good for running, cycling, walking on the beaches or in the woods. VST students pay an annual fee to the University of British Columbia’s Alma Mater Society (AMS). The fee allows students to take advantage of sport, academic, and cultural offerings.

UBC boasts an Olympic sized pool with steam rooms and a slow river; tennis courts, yoga classes and more. It has a number of gardens including the Botanical gardens, a variety of museums and art galleries including the Museum of Anthropology and the Belkin Art Gallery, theatres and performing arts centres like the Chan Centre, and over 10 libraries including the Irving K Barber Learning Centre.

Family & Child Care

Our community life is enriched by the presence of families with children living on campus. No formal arrangements are made for child care by VST, although students tend to organize as needed. Children are always welcome at worship. UBC does offer Child Care Services. Please note that VST students are not considered UBC students for fee reduction.

Bus Service

As part of VST fees, VST students can take advantage of the deep discounts to the UBC bus pass (U-Pass). It provides unlimited bus, SeaBus, SkyTrain and Canada Line transit services within Metro Vancouver, as well as discounts on West Coast Express.

Shops & Restaurants

There are many small boutiques, retail stores, and restaurants, on and off campus. Grocery stores, dry-cleaners, banks, a variety of eateries, and other necessities are a short distance away and can be accessed by car, bike, bus or on foot.
