The Talmudic Apocalypse and Christology

Course Dates: July 4-8

In this course we will be looking at a few pages of the Talmud that are filled with material that is parallel to early apocalyptic texts that are related to the New Testament. We will be thinking about the interrelations of early Jewish and early Christian thought.​

Dr. Daniel Boyarin is the Hermann P. and Sophia Taubman Professor of Talmudic Culture, Departments of Near Eastern Studies and Rhetoric, UC Berkeley He is currently writing a book on the genealogy of the term “Judaism.” At UC Berkeley. Dr. Boyarin is also a Member of core faculty in the minor in Gay and Lesbian Studies, the graduate group in Ancient History and the Center for the Study of Sexual Culture.
