Forming thoughtful, engaged and generous Christian leaders for the church in the 21st century

DS624 – UCC Theology and Doctrine

View outline (PDF)   Instructor(s): Rev. Janet Gear

The United Church of Canada “is awash with theology.” Learning to respect, articulate, and locate one’s own place within this tradition is a demanding and necessary requirement of leaders in the church. This course will provide an arena both to acquire and practice the ability to reflect theologically on the church’s statements of faith (the Doctrine section of the “Basis of Union,” “A Statement of Faith,” a “New Creed,” and “A Song of Faith”) and other doctrinally-based statements and reports as these apply to the church’s mission and ministry.

Prerequisite: DS523 and one course in theology.
