This conference seeks to explore a broad understanding of religious and spiritual art, recognizing the many and varied ways that art is used to communicate, quickly and powerfully, within politics, pedagogy, and cultural development.

Keynote speaker Georgia Angelopoulos will present “Sacred Technologies: Calligraphy and Illumination in Practice” on Tuesday May 21 at 7:00 pm, at St. Mark’s Chapel (5935 Iona Dr.), also broadcast on Zoom. Angelopoulos has a background in art history and a lifetime of lived experience with the Arts. Angelopoulos’ talk is free and open to the public. Registration is required for Zoom attendance, recommended for in-person.

Other featured speakers include Dr. Steven Muir, Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at Concordia University of Edmonton and Dr. Patricia Vickers, an accomplished artist, scholar, and owner of Raven’s Call Enterprises Canada.
