O’Driscoll Forum on Preaching and the Arts

Code: HOM6/710

Dates: July 10, 2023 - July 14, 2023

Time: 9:00 am for 3 Hours

Preachers and artists continue to seek faithful, imaginative, and meaningful responses to the challenge of communicating Christian faith in a culture that has grown very resistant to the Gospel.  When we consider the seven decades of Herbert O’Driscoll’s proclamation and writing, along with the art and work of Paula O’Driscoll, we find that the richness of narrative and image, metaphor and symbol, carry most of the theological freight and provide modes of language that still move powerfully among us to make meaning and inspire discipleship.  Diving deeply into the concepts and models that sustain the grammar of preaching, participants will be fed by the Word of God and will have the opportunity to hone their own gifts for narrative proclamation. I pray that the Forum will foster new hope and profound delight in the sharing of the Great Story of God.

Only available in-person.

Pre-requisite (M.Div only):  M.Div students taking this course to fulfill their advanced HOM elective requirements need to have taken HOM500 as a pre-requisite.
