2023 Convocation Ceremonies – May 9, 2023

Over Forty Graduates!

The Vancouver School of Theology is delighted to confirm that its 2023 Convocation Ceremonies will be conducted at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, May 9, beginning at 7 pm.

This year’s Convocation Ceremonies will include over forty (40) graduates of VST’s degree, certificate and diploma programs. In addition to the graduates, various student award recipients will also be announced and celebrated.

The Rev. Michael Blair, who is the General Secretary of the United Church of Canada, will deliver the Convocation address entitled: “Liberating the Imagination.” He will also be recognized as VST’s 2023 Honorary Doctorate recipient.

We will acknowledge The Rev. Alecia Greenfield, winner of the President’s 2023 Thoughtful, Engaged and Generous (TEG) Christian Leader Award. Students and faculty will conduct the service and there will be special music provided by VST’s Musician-in-Residence, Mr. Lonnie Delisle.

The 2023 Vancouver School of Theology Convocation Ceremonies will be presided over by Chancellor Catherine Evans, newly installed Board Chair Bishop David Lehmann, and VST President and Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Richard R. Topping.

Shaughnessy Heights United Church is located at 1550 West 33rd Avenue in Vancouver, BC. In addition to the platform party, friends and family of the graduates, the public is welcome. A reception will follow immediately after the convocation ceremonies.
