Reflections on the Reformation

Canadian Bruce Gordon, Titus Street Professor of Ecclesiastical History, offers some important thoughts around the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.  He writes “Reformation principals of a radical challenge to authorities, the questioning of established doctrines, and adherence to the Word are evident in Africa, Asia and South America.”  He makes the provocative suggestion that “Many liberal churches in the West regard the emerging Christian movements with deep suspicion and almost embarrassment.”  This take on the Reformation’s relevance for now is worth a close read.
