VST's H.R. MacMillan Theological Library is one of the major theological libraries in Canada.
It was built from the joint resources of the libraries of Union College and the Anglican Theological College. Students have open access to most of the collection which includes over 85,000 volumes, 1,300 pamphlets, and 1,000 microfilms. The Library subscribes to over 400 current periodicals and has long runs of many theological journals. About 2,000 rare books are available for use only in VST Library.
An attractive browsing area, individual study desks in the stacks, and a quiet Reference Reading Room give students ample opportunity for study and research. Borrowing privileges are extended to lay persons and clergy in the supporting denominations and to UBC campus users. All library areas are wheelchair accessible.
VST Library staff are happy to help! Whether it's instructing individuals and groups in the use of Library resources, providing bibliographies to support VST events, or arranging regular book displays, Library staff are knowledgeable and available. Individual inquiries are always welcome.
Associated Libraries
VST students are also able to borrow from the collections of the University of British Columbia, Regent-Carey Library, and St. Mark's Library, which are nearby and provide an important resource for theological and religious studies on campus.
A combined list of serials held at Regent College, St. Mark's College, Vancouver School of Theology and the University of British Columbia Library is also available.
Enhanced Services
VST Library users who have a mobility or print disability may apply at the Circulation Desk for an Enhanced Services Library card. In some cases, medical confirmation may be required.
