The
Reverend Dr. James M. Lindenberger
Professor of Hebrew Bible

Dr. Jim Lindenberger was ordained by The Presbyterian Church in
the United States in 1974 and received by The United Church of
Canada as a minister in 1978. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from
Southwestern at Memphis (Rhodes College), Bachelor of Divinity
and Master of Theology degrees from Union Theological Seminary
in Virginia, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Near Eastern Studies
from Johns Hopkins University, with further study at the Hebrew
University in Jerusalem and at Heidelberg University.
His
research interests focus on ancient Aramaic and Hebrew texts.
He has recently completed work on an expanded edition of his anthology
of ancient letters in the Writings from the Ancient World
series of the Society of Biblical Literature, which is to be published
by Scholars Press and Brill later this year. In the 1980's, he
taught three of VST's lay education course series on the BC Knowledge
Network, and in the fall of 2001, he initiated VST's first web-based
M.Div. course, an online version of his Introduction to the
Pentateuch residential course. He regularly teaches adult
Bible classes in his local congregation, where he also sings in
the church choir.
