The Battle of Indians, First Nations, and Other Indigenous Peoples to Win Their Human Rights and Places in the World Community


Robert T. Coulter (Potawatomi), Executive Director of the Indian Law Resource Center, he is an attorney with more than 35 years of legal experience in the field of Indian affairs. He has published numerous articles in the field of Indian law, and was the primary author of the initial draft of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The course will examine the development of Indian and other Indigenous political action in the United Nations and the Organization of American States, the resulting recognition of a broad array of Indigenous rights in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and other actions at the international level related to Indigenous peoples in Canada and elsewhere up to the present time.
